International Air Transport Association (IATA)
to launch Travel APP for CoVid-19
to map test results and vaccine certificates
As global vaccines begin to slowly roll out and countries beginning to offer travel bubbles, airlines are now in full swing to create a digital ‘passport’ to allow quarantine-free travel.
Qantas is one of 18 airlines trialing the International Air Transport Association’s Travel Pass which can host passport details, Covid-19 test results and vaccination records.
But as we know, one size doesn’t necessarily fit all, with other programs such as Commonpass also being considered. And many countries are introducing their own vaccination certification schemes and apps linked to healthcare records.
Experts say for international travel to work, all information will have to be linked to a single source, which raises privacy concerns.
